The Royal Family

I came across a quote today that immediately made me think of this picture with my cousins. Having been to the Tennessee State Fair a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't have said it better myself!
"If you ever start feeling like you have the goofiest, craziest, most dysfunctional family in the world, all you have to do is go to a state fair. Because five minutes at the fair, you'll be going, 'you know, we're alright. We are dang near royalty'."

Chocolate mouth

Hi Mom and Dad,
Tonight for supper I ate mashed potatoes and bread. I spit out the chicken casserole Granny made! Then Pa let me have a chocolate cookie for dessert.
See you later,
Parker

Joey - I felt like you needed a picture on the blog....

You're Welcome.

With Parker You Don't Know What You Will Find!

I just opened my purse a minute ago and found that Parker had put this piece of loaf bread in it. I think it was this morning. Looks like he took one bite from the middle. Maybe he thought I might get hungry at school!

Big Sis, Lil Sis

One of the best things about being an adult is the realization that you can share with your sister and still have plenty for yourself.-- Betsy Cohen

More than Santa Claus, your sister knows when you've been bad and good.-- Linda Sunshine

It was nice growing up with someone like you - someone to lean on, someone to count on... someone to tell on!-- Author Unknown

If you don't understand how a woman could both love her sister dearly and want to wring her neck at the same time, then you were probably an only child.-- Linda Sunshine
Hi, Mom and Dad, its me, Parker. I'm just calling to let you know what a great day I had. First Granny took me to stay with Granny Lerion and Pa Lyle. We played all day, they had lots to eat and we watched the humming birds on the porch. I rode my airplane, and played with my schoolhouse and jumped in the ball pit there.
After school Granny picked me up and when we got home, Pa was there with the golf cart. He had it fixed just for me today. It has four new tires, so we can travel all over the Ponderosa! Here's some of the things I did:

I sat on the rolls of hay!
I ate some apples!

I picked some of Granny's flowers.
And right before supper, Pa sat in his chair and I sat in my chair and we had a little rest, because we had a really big day!
Love you, Bye!

Happy Fall Ya'll

WALKING WITH GRANDPA
I like to walk with Grandpa,
His steps are short like mine.
He doesn't say "Now Hurry Up,"
He always takes his time.

I like to walk with Grandpa,
His eyes see thing like mine do -
Wee pebbles bright, a funny cloud,
Half hidden drops of dew.

Most people have to hurry,
They don't stop and see.

I'm glad that God made Grandpa,

Unrushed, and young like me.

Aimee's Birthday Post

Aimee Age 8

It's a big month at the Clayborn household, all three of them have birthdays! Now Shelby will get presents and Wayne got a nice birthday post, so Aimee needs one too. So, let's all say nice things about Aimee. By the way her official birthday is Saturday, September 20th, but I'm going to post today so everyone will be able to put their comments on in time for her big day.
I'll start, feel free to comment or just add to my post:

Aimee is one of the kindest people I know, she has a big heart and would always be there to help if you needed her.

Aimee is very creative (I don't know why she will not post here and use it but. . .) she has great ideas, can throw a great party and decorate a cake like nobody's business.

Aimee loves to get socks in the mail....I send her some on Valentine's Day and Easer and she gets excited even though she knows what it is!

Aimee is a scheduling whiz! She keeps people coming and going at Dr. Riley's office and she reminds people who forget about their upcoming appointments!

I could go on and on, but I'm going to leave room for others. . . . .Go

Happy Birthday, Aimee!!!!!

Rock out

I was looking at some older pics on my computer and saw these of Parker. They are over a year old and are from hanging out for a couple of days at Parkey's favorite Aunt and Uncle's house. I dressed him in one of J's KISS T-shirts and J's "eighties hair" (maybe I'll do a later post to show why J actually owns eighties hair). These pics always make me laugh!

Want to see the biggest rocking chair in the world?

Then go to Gatlinburg and you can not only see it, but you can sit in it too. It was big enough to fit Tracie, me, and Jay.

A special thanks to Joey for being the photographer!

A post for Jay and Joey

This is my pantry. Neither Jay or Joey will eat anything from it before checking the dates on the packages.
This is the bottom of the can of pringles you see above and the reason they check the expiration date!

I always tell them that things are still fresh 3 years after the date, but somebody better eat these quick!

It's Wayne's Birthday

Happy Birthday to Wayne!
Sept. 4

I am making this Wayne's official Happy Birthday site. You can leave your comments about what a good guy he is and birthday wishes for him here!
I will start:
Reasons Wayne is great and should have a Happy Birthday!

He likes my cooking and thinks I make the world's best mashed potatoes!
He is the handiest handy man I know!
He is very easy going and puts up with all the Gibson teasing and trash talk!
He can say 10-4 better than all the other dispatchers!

Now it's your turn, leave Wayne a comment.
Happy Birthday to you Wayne!

Chain Saw Master Strikes Again!

The chainsaw master struck early this morning. He wanted to get rid of the crab apple trees, been talking it for weeks. (They make a mess on the driveway and tops are dead) I said he could cut them if they are replaced with crape myrtle bushes and the the bushes were here and ready to plant. Well, there are no bushes and the trees are gone. Here's the story:

Chain Saw Master fires down on the trees!
Flower beds, survive but it was a close one!
(Did we mention mess on the driveway?)
Plans are to drag the trees into the woods, so the deer can eat the apples from them.
Faithful dogs watch from a distance.

Dragging the trees to the woods, looks like there were some stray limbs making a little mess in the yard.Say Goodbye to the crab apples!
Here's all that's left, looks like someone did not find all the Easter eggs!
New view from the driveway, notice the lack of crape myrtle bushes!
And did I mention mess on the driveway?

Happy Labor Day!
