Ice Cream Van

I've been hearing the ice cream van drive by in the evenings.  B&B have never said a word about the music.  They didn't know what it was.  Tonight I heard it at the perfect time...just as we had all got up from eating dinner.  We ran outside and flagged down the ice cream man for dessert.
They both chose the same thing - two  dollar rainbow Popsicles.  Perfect summer treat!

The face of determination

She's never played on or been on steps before.  Today she saw her brother and sister go running up the steps and she took off right behind them.  She climbed all the way to the top - first try.  Never looked back.

The waiting is the hardest part

We made cookies this morning.
Here's where Brynn opted to wait while they were baking.

Can summer last forever?

It really would be ok with me if it was always summer.  Summer is my favorite season and with weather like we have had this year it makes me wish every day was like today (maybe we need to move even further south).
Today everyone got new garden gloves.
And went to work!

We also found time for some playing.
Bailee clapped for B&B after each roller coaster ride.
And she got lots of help swinging.

And we'll do it all again tomorrow.

Cookie time!

Enjoying some organic apple-ginger cookies for the first time.  She thinks they are yummy!

Brynn Art

Brynn has a new favorite tv show called Doc McStuffins.  Today's episode featured a toy whale. Here is her art rendering!

P-Pa's Ribs

Tonight we are at P-Pa and Nana's house.  We've spent the day riding golf carts, feeding the horse and donkey corn shucks, looking at cows, and playing outside.  For dinner P-Pa grilled out ribs. First Jay pulled some meat off the bone for B&B to have with their dinner, but then Brooks decided he wanted to eat it off the bone.  First P-Pa and Daddy helped.

It didn't take long for him to decide he wanted to do it by himself.  This boy is a meat eater!

Ice Cream Cake

B&B got a special treat a couple of nights ago - they got to try ice cream cake for the first time!  It was our neighbors birthday and his daughter Katherine brought over B&B a piece of ice cream cake to celebrate.  It's good to know your neighbors!!
They both really liked it.  And once Brooks was done Brynn finished it off.  Mommy, Daddy, or Bailee didn't get a single bite!

She's got teeth

Two cute little bottom teeth.  She's already working on getting her top ones, too.  She's very good at using them to chew.  Which is good because she loves to feed herself!  Some things Lil B likes to eat on her own:  bread, baby rice cakes, puffs, bananas, yogurt melts, shredded cheese, bits of cracker.  She's a messy eater, but she sure enjoys doing it on her own.

Playground time!

B&B ask to go to the playground every day.  Luckily, it's a very short walk!!

Perfect Weather, Perfect Day

The morning started with an early walk for everyone.  It was much cooler than usual, but that didn't stop Bailee from taking a nap.

After the walk, we checked out garden beds.  The squash plant is really spreading out, and we have our first tomato!

All this activity makes for hungry kids.  Brooks took snack into his own hands!

Today, we had Pops and Grandmama over to visit the new house.  All the visiting made for some tired youngsters!

Momma led art class on the patio.  There was great sidewalk art to be found.

After dinner, I took them to the playground for a little fun time.  They really enjoy playing there and taking the trail.

We took advantage of perfect weather and stayed busy all day.  It was a great day!

Week long roundup

I've been slacking on blogging due to working and still unpacking boxes.  As usual, we've still made time to do some fun stuff with the kids.
Our "old" neighbors from Hickory Hills are now our neighbors again.  We are excited about it.  Not only do we really like them but their daughter Katherine is soon going to be old enough to be a great babysitter.  They came over to catch up and welcome us to the neighborhood with cupcakes!
We met our neighbors directly across the street on the 4th of July.  The have a girl that's the same age as B&B.  Her name is Coco.  A few days later they invited us over to jump in the bouncy house.  The kids all loved it.
And Coco came to our house a couple of nights ago to run and play in the sprinklers in the backyard.  I didn't get pictures of that (forgot), but here's B&B having a snack of fruit before going in for bath that night.
Our friends Will, Ashley, Maddie and Emma Kate had been wanting to come check out the new house so we had them over for a cookout over the weekend.  Here's Brynn, Maddie, and Brooks having dessert and being silly.
Bailee and Emma Kate hung out for a long time together in their high chairs eating cheese.
B&B also got to push a kid cart around Kroger for the first time.  The first thing they wanted to do was get their favorite food...Brynn wanted blueberries and Brooks wanted carrots. We won't talk about the toilet paper and gift card display that ended up on the ground.:)
It's been an eventful week around here, but then again, it always is!!

Big Girl in the Shopping Cart

It is a big event when they are big enough to ride in the shopping cart seat. Bailee had been riding in her car seat in the buggy until yesterday at Wal-Mart. Congratulations Bailee!!

Hockey in July

Today, the Preds were having an open to the public practice for their prospect development camp.  Both of the kids really enjoy going to games with us, so this was a great way to fill part of the day.  There was only a hundred or so people there, which is perfect for 2 energetic kids!!

Brooks was able to get right behind the action and watch them shoot the puck.

They had the most important hockey food to Brynn!  I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want to go if they didn't have nachos!

Brooks really ate up being able to get up and stand.  He spent most of the practice watching.  The highlight was when the zamboni would come out.  They had to wave at the driver with each pass.

A player gave them some pucks.  They held on to them the entire time, except for when Brooks tried to throw his back on the ice.  Lucky for him the puck hit  the glass.  They left with 2 each and showed them to everyone they saw.

We had a great time today.  They really enjoy going into the city and experiencing things.  They asked a lot of questions and seemed to try and understand what was going on.  It is really fun to take them places. Even when you get stuck in gridlock traffic due to the Vice President visiting!
