Neighborhood Sledding

The snow here is too hard on top for snowmen and snowball fights, but it is perfect for sledding. We participated in what turned into a neighborhood sledding party yesterday. It was very cold, but we still had fun.

I've got previous sledding experience (thanks to Dad, Kristin, Pat, JR, Sam, and numerous others) but it has been quite a long time since I've participated in hard core "road sledding". Below is my sledding coach, Carson.

Notice how she was able to expertly set up our sleds so that we could go down the hill together..head first, of course.
This is kind of a shot of the first part of the hill, you make the turn and then it actually gets steeper. So, yeah, people were going really fast.
Carson and I only made it about 3/4 of the way down and we had to wreck ourselves into a snow bank due to a stranded motorist. Even though most of the sledders were annoyed by this, they still tried to lend a hand.

Once the car was out of the way, it was time to climb the hill again for more sledding.
This is our friend Kenzie, Carson's sister, she wouldn't sled down the hill by herself. She would however lay on another person's back and ride down the hill! Check out the other sledders coming down the hill behind her.
And lastly, here is an action shot of Jay doing some sledding!
