Muir Woods

Me, J, Joey and Trace went to Muir Woods one of the days we were in San Francisco. Muir Woods is an old-growth forest of Coastal Redwoods. It's kind of one of those things you have to see in person to appreciate the largeness of the trees, but I thought I would post some pics anyway!

Redwoods can grow to nearly 380 feet tall, but the tallest tree in Muir Woods is 258 feet. These trees come from a seed no bigger than that of a tomato's.

I can't remember how tall the fallen tree below was, but I liked the pic of Trace and J posing in front of it. We aren't very big believers in taking "scenery only" pics so those two above are a pretty rare thing. We prefer to take a pic of ourselves with different scenery in the background!

You can kind of get an idea of the size of this forest when you see how small J and I look in the pic below.

The average age of the Redwoods in Muir Woods are between 500 and 800 years old with the oldest being at least 1,200 years old. This one was a fun photo op where you could walk inside one of the trees.

Usually the pictures we take of ourselves are much more entertaining than scenery.
