Carter Gibson, THP
We had three sets of Halloween visitors tonight, the first one was a trooper in training (Eddie, Kara and Brian), the second a trooper in charge (James,Connie, Hallie and Hattie) and the last one was the little trooper above! His mom and dad were driving his patrol car. We felt pretty safe.
We also had some trespassers who tried to sneak up the driveway, but our guard dog took prompt action and put them on the run!!!
Some Facts You Won't Need To Know...
1.)Many years ago in Scotland, a new game was invented. It was ruled "Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden", and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language.
2.)Everyday more money is printed for MONOPOLY than the U.S. Treasury.
3.)Coca-Cola was originally green.
4.)The cost of raising a medium-sized dog to the age of 11 is $6400.
5.)It is impossible to lick your elbow.
6.)The average number of people airborne over the U.S. at any given hour is 61,000.
7.)Intelligent people have more zinc and copper in their hair.
8.)A cute mathematical trick is 111,111 x 111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321.
9.)If a statue in a park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died from wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, then the person died from natural causes.
10.)If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go to find the letter "A"?-One thousand.
11.)At least 75% of people who read this tried to lick their elbow!
How bout you? Did you try to lick your elbow?- I did & then felt really silly!

Long Lunch at The Hermitage
My friend Rachel has twin girls, Carson and Kenzie. Today, they were "volunteers" at The Hermitage so we went to check it out. All of the 4th graders at their school had memorized different facts associated with the normal tour you would take of the grounds at The Hermitage and they "worked" their designated area sharing their knowledge with the visitors.
Carson and her friend Jack were at the very first station greeting visitors with a welcome that included facts about Andrew Jackson.
Carson was very good at saying, "Thank you for coming to The Hermitage, your tour begins here".
Before we made it to Kenzie, Rachel and I gave ourselves a tour of the graveyard. Here I am pictured in front of the grave of one of Mom's ancestors (Rachel Donelson Jackson). Rachel Jackson's husband tried to eliminate all of my ancestors. :)
This is Kenzie at her post. She had memorized an entire spill about "war road" (notice how all the trees are lined up on two sides behind her). Kenzie taught me that a historical society brought a tree from each battlefield where Andrew Jackson had fought, and planted them along the walkway you see behind her. Of course many of the trees are no longer there, but the ones that remain are huge.
This is Kenzie and her mom Rachel. Kenzie took her job so seriously we couldn't even get her to take three steps to the left to get out of the sun to get a better picture. Cute, huh?!?

Weekend Update
There was lots of fun to be had in Nashville this weekend. Saturday was Oktoberfest and living history at the Bicentennial Mall (it was also Southern Festival of Books, but we didn't go - sorry, Mom), so me, J, Trace, Joey, and Parker all headed out to check out the action. J said the only thing that would have made it better was if it were 20 degrees cooler. At Oktoberfest there were lots of booths set up with crafts and German food & drink, and live music to enjoy. Below is a pic of J and Joey chillin' at Oktoberfest.
We didn't spend as much time at the living history event at the Bicentennial Mall, it was wrapping up and Parker was ready for a nap, though Parker and Joey did get to sit in a Humvee together.
Saturday night was the first home Predators game of the season. Whoo hoo!!! It was fun to be back at the hockey game. We have season tickets with another couple so we always have a great time watching the games together. Preds won, so that made it even better.
For those of you wandering what the heck this sign means J is holding, it is a hockey puck + a hockey net = a catfish on the ice. A tradition was started several years back where people sneak dead catfish into the arena and then toss them onto the ice when the Preds score their first goal. Gross, I know, but the crowd goes crazy when this happens. And don't worry, we sit far enough away from the glass that J doesn't have the opportunity to attempt to sneak in a catfish to toss.

Eddie's Graduation!
I just wanted to let everyone know that Eddie's THP graduation will be on December 12 at Two Rivers Baptist Church in Nashville. He says there is no limit on the number of friends and family members that can attend, so feel free to make plans to be there if you would like. I'm not sure what time it starts yet, but I will let everyone know when I find out. I'm really excited about it. I think it will be a really neat and meaningful experience!

It's Carol's Birthday--October 6
Happy Birthday to Carol!
Everyone send good wishes to Carol today, it's her birthday! In this photo she was in the sixth grade. This picture had a little tear at the top, but it just made her look like she has a little halo! You can comment your birthday wishes on this post....maybe she will see them or Aimee will tell her to look.
