Playing Above the Interstate

We packed a lot of activities into our last full day in Dallas.  We started it off by playing at Klyde Warren Park.  This park is neat because it is in downtown Dallas, and it is built over the interstate.  It is located beside the Dallas Museum of Art where we were amazed by a huge mosaic.

Brooks and Brynn really loved climbing and running on the hills in the children's park.

There was also a tree with a spiral staircase around it.  Momma, Brooks, and Brynn climbed it a few times.

Bailee was asleep for a lot of our time at the park, but she did check out the action from time to time.

It was a good thing that Momma packed a change of clothes because the park had water fountains that the kids couldn't resist running through and playing in.

After a change of clothes, it was lunch time.  This park has many food trucks that offer anything from cupcakes to sushi.  We ate at one that served catfish.

It seems only fitting that after this lunch, we went to the Children's Aquarium next.

Sleep

While we were in Dallas Brooks & Brynn slept together on a pull out sofa bed with no issues.  They actually thought it was really fun to sleep on a 'magic bed'.  On our way to Dallas I slept with Brooks.  Actually, 'attempted to sleep' is a better choice of words.  On our way back last night it was Jay's turn.  When Bailee woke me up to eat at 5:15 this morning here's what they looked like.  At least Brooks looks comfy.:)   

First Carrots

For her lunch today Bailee tried carrots for the first time.  Here's her first ever bite of carrots.

Does she like them?? She's thinking it over...

Yep, she likes them!

And because I was taking pictures of Bailee, Brooks wanted me to take a picture of him & Brynn.

They did a good job helping to encourage Bailee to eat carrots & keeping her entertained while Jay fed her!

Closer to home

Today we left Dallas and are heading in the direction of home.  We stopped for a picnic lunch in Texas.

After lunch there was a lot of running, flower picking and acorn finding.  Later we stopped and walked around a Walmart where B&B picked out a Curious George movie that they watched in the car.  After the movie it was nap time.  Once everyone was awake we stopped at a gas station for a potty break & to pick out a snack.  When we made it to Brinkley, Arkansas (over half way home) we decided to have dinner & call it a night!

First Time Going To In-n-Out Burger

In-n-Out has long been a favorite west coast eatery of Steph and myself.  I am considerably more obsessed with it than she is!!  It is slowly creeping east and has a few locations in the Dallas area.  We took a family dinner trip there tonight to celebrate a great trip to Dallas.

I had to pose with the kids before I ordered.  The worker gave them all official hats to wear.

Brooks and Brynn were very impressed with the food.  I got them a cheeseburger and fries to share. I have the double double and fries (both animal style) and Steph has the cheeseburger meal.

Everyone devoured their food, even Brynn who isn't the biggest hamburger eater.  She said it was her favorite.  

Here is proof of her loving cheeseburger for the next time she says "oh daddy, me not like cheeseburger, you already know that".

Here is to many more family dinners at In-n-Out.  Side note, they didn't have their size in shirts, so guess I'll have to place an online order for them and me :)

Dallas Zoo, Part 2

Today was another super fun day at the zoo.  We tried to feed the giraffes (again) but they evidentially are just not hungry when we are around.  We still spent quite a while watching them, the elephants & zebras.

We got to see a 9 month old cheetah cub.  We didn't get to pet him but we were only like a foot away.

We did get to pet a penguin.  

And we saw a big ole crocodile.  I let Bailee stick her head in its mouth.

We also played on the stream in the children's zoo.

And rode the carousal four times!

Mommy and her boy checking out giraffes and elephants.  Those 2 animals can snap perpetual motion and put Brooks in a trance.  Steph seems to always be taking the pictures, so it is nice to get her in one

A double double animal style from In-n-Out. My favorite burger in the world. We took advantage of 3 sleeping kids to stop. Friday night will be Family Dinner Night at In-n-Out. I will introduce the kids to hamburger perfection!

Head 'em up, Move 'em out!!

Today, we visited the Ft. Worth Stockyards and watched the Longhorn Cattle Drive.  There were photo ops atop cattle, but our cowboy and cowgirls would have no part of it.

One of the cowboys gave us Cattle Drive Trading Cards.  They gave stats about the featured cow, such as hometown, age, and horn-span.

Waiting on the heard and getting excited and maybe a little nervous!
